Library to host huge book sale
COATESVILLE >> Coatesville Area Public Library volunteers have been busy for weeks sorting books by genre and prepacking them into sturdy tote bags. The library, at 501 E. Lincoln Highway in Coatesville, is hosting a fun “grab and go” TOTE-ally Awesome Book Sale in the library’s outdoor courtyard, rain or shine. It will be held April 23 through 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Attendees will select a bag of books in their favorite category. The price for a bag filled with books is $10. There will be no handling of individual books. Mask wearing and social distancing will be in place with a limited amount of people permitted in the gated courtyard at a time.
About 25 percent of the library’s annual income is generated from its operations which include donations and fundraising. With the lost operational revenue from the past year, the library is hoping for a successful fundraising event. The townships in its municipality range (Caln, East Fallowfield, West Bradford, South Coatesville, and Valley Townships) have shown their support of the event helping to advertise via social media and outdoor posters.
For those not interested in making a purchase for themselves, there is another option. Make a $10 donation and the library will GIVE a bag of books to a needy local family. Donations can be made in person at the sale or by sending a check payable to Coatesville Area Public Library, 501 East Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, PA 19320, ATTN: bag of books.
Additionally, raffle tickets will be on sale at the bag event and in the library until June 6th Win a signed copy of Barack Obama’s latest book “A Promised Land” $5 per ticket/5 tickets for $20.
