Avon Grove’s Dorn no-hits Shanahan

Avon Grove pitcher Robert Dorn pitched a no-hitter on Monday, as the Red Devils blanked Bishop Shanahan, 12-0. Justin Nole, Jacob Stretch, and Caleb Strawhecke­r each had to hits to support the effort from Dorn, who struck out 11 Eagles on the day. WEST CHESTER EAST 2, DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 1 >> Keagan Azar had a walk-off single — one of two on the day — to chase home Joey Wileczek as the Vikings came back with two runs in the seventh inning to beat the Cougars.

Jackson Reed had two hits for East, while Mason Griffin knocked in courtesy runner Liam Dudley to get the Vikings on the board in the seventh inning. Mason Griffin picked up the win for West Chester East. UNIONVILLE 4, SUN VALLEY 2 >> Nicholas Diehl got the win for the Longhorns, striking out 12 in five and two-thirds innings of work. Jack Regenye had two hits and an RBI for Unionville. OXFORD 6, KENNETT 5 >> Joey Kelly pitched five strong innings while Drew Schoessler had a key hit to help Oxford secure the win in the tight Ches-Mont affair. Tim Haftl had three RBI for Oxford and Connor Reilly had two more. Thomas Edmonds knocked in three runs for Kennett in the loss. GREAT VALLEY 10, WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 0 >> Keenan Metrick struck out nine batters in the Patriots’ Ches-Mont win.

Softball

AVON GROVE 5, BISHOP SHANAHAN 1 >> Maddie Kelly went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a double, Cait Long went 1-for-2 with two walks, and senior Lauren O’Neill had two hits and two runs scored. Freshman Payton Hale picked up the win in the circle with 12 strikeouts. Ava Laughlin had two hits for Bishop Shanahan. CONESTOGA 18, HARRITON 6 >> Libby Winters and Allison Roessler had three RBI each in the Pioneers’ Central League win. Winters and Allison Noll each had three hits for Conestoga, and Winters had a home run. WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 6, GREAT VALLEY 3 >> Emily Gillis struck out 11 for Rustin in the Ches-Mont win, pitching a complete game. Gillis, Julia Snelling and Ally Black knocked in runs for Rustin, while Snelling and Lainey Lacey each had multiple hits. Kaitlyn Williams-Koester had an RBI for Great Valley, while Amy Magee took the loss for the Patriots. UNIONVILLE 6, SUN VALLEY 1 >> Madison Parisi went 2-for-3 with a double and scored three of the Longhorn runs. Lucy Brucker had three RBI. Sydney Horan threw all seven innings, only giving up two hits and striking out 13. DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 14, COATESVILL­E 2 >> Anne Eliason had five RBI, including two home runs, while Taylor Posner and Lizzie Kern both homered and had three RBI each for the Whippets in the win.

Boys Lacrosse

KENNETT 16, OXFORD 4 >> Jake Freeberry, Rich Hughson and Sam Forte had four goals apiece in the Blue Demons’ Ches-Mont win. Zach Hulme, Broc Fantazzi, Evan Hartman and Collin Jung all scored for Kennett, with Hulme and Fantazzi joining Freeberry with two assists each. Hughson was 21 for 23 on faceoffs.

Girls Lacrosse

CONESTOGA 16, HAVERFORD 5 >> Rachel Clark had five goals and Kate Galica had three more in the Pioneers’ Central League win. Melissa Hewitt and Kiki Liebezeit had two goals each for the Pioneers (8-0-1)
