Man, 26, arrested in bomb threat

He threatened to blow up Malvern Institute, police say

EAST GOSHEN >> A man who police say threatened to blow up the Malvern Institute in East Goshen Township has been arrested. Taylor Richardson, 26, of Dillsburg, York County, was arrested and charged with terrorism, threat to use weapons of mass destructio­n and terroristi­c threats.

On June 17, at 9:51 a.m., the West

town-East Goshen Regional Police Department was dispatched to the Malvern Institute for a reported bomb threat. Staff at Malvern Institute were alerted to the threat which was written in marker on a dry erase board in a lounge area at the facility indicating a bomb would explode in the building at 3 p.m. on June 17.

Upon arrival of police, the facility was evacuated and bomb detection K-9’s from the Chester County Sheriff’s Office were requested to respond. Upon the arrival of three Chester County Sherriff K-9’s and their handlers the facility was searched and determined to be safe.

Upon further investigat­ion by the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department Criminal Investigat­ion Division it was determined that wrote the bomb threat on the dry erase board.

Richardson was arraigned and released on $50,000 unsecured bail. The investigat­ion remains ongoing. The Malvern Fire Department also assisted with this incident.

West Chester

Drug charges On June 21 at 12:45 a.m., a man was stopped for suspicious behavior in the 200 block of Woodbine Alley. David Groff, 27, homeless, provided false identifica­tion to officers. Groff was also found in possession of suspected methamphet­amine. Groff was taken into custody, charged with drug violations and transporte­d to the Chester County Prison where he was arraigned. A preliminar­y hearing is pending. Lewd behavior On June 17 at 8 p.m., West Chester Police were dispatched to the area of Downingtow­n Pike and Creek Road for the report of a man in the roadway exposing his genitalia and masturbati­ng. Upon arrival, officers located a man later identified as Christophe­r Cannon, 36, of West Chester. After an investigat­ion, Cannon was taken into custody, processed and released on summons. Criminal mischief On June 16, 2021 at 8:45 a.m., the West Chester Police Department received a report of Criminal Mischief in the 100 block of West Union Street. Through an investigat­ion it was determined that on June 16, 2021, at 2:58 a.m., two unknown men broke three large potted plants located on the front porch of a residence in the block. Video surveillan­ce shows the two men approach the residence, stop, and then damage the property before continuing East on West Union Street. The first is described as a white male with dark hair, wearing a shirt and shorts with flip-flop sandals, carrying a bag. The second is described as a white male with dark hair, wearing a shirt and dark pants with dark colored shoes. West Whiteland Road rage

Isaiah J. Van was arrested and charged in connection with a road rage incident in West Whiteland on June 11 at 5:45 p.m. Police said he threatened a driver with a knife. He was charged with simple assault, possessing instrument­s of a crime, terroristi­c threats and harassment.

Kennett Square

Fleeing and eluding Two male juveniles and one female juvenile were involved in a Fleeing and Eluding incident beginning in the area of Center Street to Route 1 North, on May 30, 2021 at 3:19 a.m. in Kennett Square. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the blue Subaru in the 500 Block of East Cypress street for traveling at a high rate of speed, but the operator failed to stop and the Officers ended the pursuit shortly after. Pennsylvan­ia State Police Avondale later informed officers the three juveniles had crashed the car in the area of Woodchuck Way and Ring Tail Run, Kennett Township, and they had the occupants of the vehicle in custody for Fleeing and Eluding charges. The registrati­on on the vehicle came back as a stolen vehicle from the 300 Block of Center Street, Kennett Square Borough. Charges were filed for all three juveniles involved at Chester County Juvenile Probation. Drug charges Omar Lopez-Sosa, 31, of Lincoln University, was arrested and charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug Device and Cosmetic Act (Act 64), after he was found to be in possession of marijuana and related parapherna­lia, following a traffic stop conducted on the yellow Jeep he was operating. The incident occurred on May 21, 2021 at 4 p.m., in the 600

Block of West South Street, Kennett Square. On June 2, the suspected marijuana was field tested and tested positive for the presence of THC. Assault Rodrigo Ramirez-Cisneros, 36, of Kennett Square was charged with Simple Assault and Harassment, following an altercatio­n, during which he allegedly grabbed a female subject aggressive­ly by the hair. The incident occurred on June 14, 2021 at 11 a.m., in the 500 Block of Center Street, Kennett Square. Officers were also advised of a few other incidents, that occurred the week prior, which caused the victim to fear for their own safety and the safety of their children.

Parkesburg

Juvenile assault Police and medical crews were called to a disturbanc­e, involving a knife, along the 400 block of West Sixth Avenue, just after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, involving a group of teens. Several witnesses reported a group of juveniles engaged in the assault of a 14-year-old Atglen resident. The victim and his mother refused treatment at the scene and was taken for medical care for a minor injury sustained during the incident. The 15-year-old juvenile suspect, from Parkesburg, was apprehende­d by police on West Second Avenue shortly after fleeing the scene with a group of his friends. Police and the Chester County District Attorney’s Office and Chester County’s Juvenile Authoritie­s are expected to charge numerous juveniles involved in this incident. Police received help from neighborin­g residents on the criminal case.
