Tinted windows leads to arrest of Coatesvill­e man

He faces drug and firearms charges after police stop

COATESVILL­E >> A Coatesvill­e man is facing firearms and drug charges after police stopped his vehicle for having tinted windows.

Anthony Williams was arrested in connection with the June 12 incident, police said.

At 2:33 a.m., police observed a vehicle with a burnt-out registrati­on plate light and tint on the vehicle’s windows. A traffic stop was conducted in the 800 block of East Lincoln Highway.

Williams was the driver and vehicle owner, and he had a passenger in his car who was in his 30s. During the course of the traffic stop, Williams was found to be illegally in possession of a loaded 9mm pistol. He was taken into custody.

Police said Williams had marijuana in his pocket. A digital scale with cocaine on it was also seized from the rear seat of the vehicle. A search warrant was conducted on the contents of the vehicle where additional drug parapherna­lia was recovered.

Williams was held overnight at the Coatesvill­e Police station until he was arraigned.

Kennett Square

Vehicle theft On Nov. 19, 2020 at approximat­ely 5:57 a.m., officers were dispatched for a motor vehicle theft in the 700 Block of Wayne Avenue, Kennett Square. The victim told police one of their vehicles was no longer in the driveway. The victim has a ring doorbell camera and the theft was recorded on the device. The footage shows two unknown men running into the victim’s driveway and backing the vehicle out of the driveway. After further investigat­ion, officers were able to determine the male juvenile’s identity as well as obtain geographic­al informatio­n placing him at the scene on the date and time of the vehicle theft. Charges were filed with Chester County Juvenile Probation on June 8, 2021. Bad checks On May 15, 2021, 9:10 p.m., officers were dispatched for a report of bad checks at the Mobile Talk located in the 600 Block of South Union Street, Kennett Square Borough. Jose Buitron-Quintino, who was later identified by the individual he sent to cash the checks, wrote two fraudulent checks with account numbers that were not valid. Together the checks amounted to $2,520, including a fee from the Bank for fraudulent checks. Charges were filed.

West Chester

Theft Sometime between Tuesday June 15 and June 17, someone entered a property in the 50 block of North New Street that is under renovation. Once inside the thief removed a Shop Vac vacuum and a Sawzall. The department is reviewing surveillan­ce video for possible leads and anyone with informatio­n on this Burglary is asked to contact West Chester Police at 610-696-2700. Cocaine bust In October 2020, the WCPD started an investigat­ion into the sale of cocaine by Jesus Quintero-Gonzalez. As a result of this investigat­ion, Quintero-Gonzalez, 33, from New Castle, Del., was arrested on June 10 and charged with six counts of delivery of cocaine. Quintero-Gonzalez was arraigned at District Court 15-1-04 and remanded to Chester County Prison after being unable to post $50,000 bail.
