Howard announces reelection bid
MALVERN » Two-term Chester County state Rep. Kristine Howard, D-167th Dist., of Malvern, has announced her intentions to seek reelection next year.
Howard, who defeated six-term incumbent Republican Representative Duane Milne in 2018 and turned back a primary and Republican opponent in 2020 by 20 points and 12 points respectively, told supporters, “If redistricting is fair, I believe there is an excellent opportunity for the ship of state to change course.”
In her email advocating electing a Democratic majority in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Howard said, “What I find particularly frustrating is, while I am a member of the minority party in Harrisburg, I believe that my more moderate positions on most issues more accurately reflect the thinking of a clear majority of our Commonwealth’s citizens, especially in my district.”
In 2020 Howard was endorsed by the state’s major environmental advocacy organizations, women’s organizations supporting reproductive rights and equal rights, labor unions, educators, healthcare professionals, animal protection groups and more.
Howard, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Rutgers Law, worked as a child abuse investigator before being elected to the state legislature. She serves on the Children and Youth, Agriculture and Rural Affairs, State Government and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees. She was also a member of the Governor’s Juvenile Justice Reform Task Force.
The 2022 Primary Election is set for May 17.
The 167th Legislative District currently is comprised of the Chester County municipalities of Charlestown Township, Easttown Township, East Whiteland Township, Malvern Borough, West Pikeland Township, West Whiteland Township and Willistown Township.
