Mowbray wins 400 meters for West Chester

Chad Mowbray won the 400-meters and Ori Frazier was runner-up in two events as four Golden Rams hit conference qualifying marks at the Fast Times Before Finals eight-team meet inside Rauch Fieldhouse on the campus of Lehigh University Saturday.

The sprints were especially pleasing Saturday with three of the four PSAC qualifying times coming out of those events. West Chester runners claimed four of the top six positions in the 400m and three of the top four in the 200m while three sprinters were among the top seven in the 60m dash.

Mowbray clocked a time of 51.32 seconds in the 400m that led four Golden Rams to the finish line. Frazier was right behind him in second with a time of 51.45. Both of those times qualified the duo for the PSAC Championsh­ips in February. Xavier Fanny was fourth (52.46) and Jack Wasserman sixth in 53.07.

The Golden Rams’ success started off with James, who put up a personal best of 3,607 points to win the pentathlon.

Corah Kratz came in second in the pole vault, hitting a PSAC qualifying height and indoor personal best of 11 feet, 5 ¾ inches.

Women’s Basketball

JEFFERSON 70, LINCOLN 69 » Senior Bryanna Brown, who scored her 1,000th career points early in the first quarter, finished with 22 points, seven rebounds, six steals, and five assists to lead the Lions. Junior Jeana Weatherspo­on added 12 points and six boards, while senior Joy Morton added seven rebounds as well.

Men’s Basketball

JEFFERSON 87, LINCOLN 75 » Four players reached double figures, but the Lincoln University men’s basketball fell in non-conference action, 87-75, Saturday to Jefferson at the Gallagher Center.

Junior Zahrion Blue led the team with 17 points and seven rebounds, while senior Isaiah Miles tallied a career-high 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting and four rebounds. Freshman Bakir Cleveland added 10 points, while freshman Janaie Coates dropped a careerhigh 10 points.
