Downingtown West softball squad rolls to win
The Downingtown West High School softball squad rolled to a 9-1 win against Bishop Shanahan Tuesday. Ava Zettlemoyer pitched a two-hitter, walking only one batter and striking out 14. The Whippet attack was led by Lizzie Kern (2-for4, double), Darby Weller (2-for-4, two runs, triple) and Nicole Lioumis (2-for-3, two runs, home run).

CONESTOGA 16, RIDLEY 3 » The Pioneers were led by Melissa Hewitt (four goals, two assists), Kiki Liebezeit (three goals, five draw controls), Piper Kienzle (two goals, one assist), Keating Hopkins (two goals, three ground balls), Ella Warkentine (two goals, one assist, two draw controls) and Kate Galica (one goal, one assist, four draw controls, two caused turnovers). DOWNINGTOWN EAST 11, BISHOP SHANAHAN 6» The Cougars were led by Eileen Hewitt (three goals, two assists, three ground balls), Sofia Fanelli (two goals), Nickie Prendergast (three goals, one assist), Karyn Michaels (two goals, one assist) and Addy Mulhern (six saves).

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 16, SUN VALLEY 2 » Marek Seaman, Jake Jackson and Antonio Santangelo each scored four goals for the Golden Knights, and Jack O’Hora dished out five assists. Other contributors included Nate Pechin (one goal, three assists), Mack Thompson (two goals, won 13 of 17 faceoffs) and Billy Carney (eight saves). Boys’ tennis OXFORD 7, COATESVILLE 0 »
Oxford captured five matches in straight sets, including Jacob Horton at second singles and Dylan Gerrard at third sin-gles. Johnny Fields won at first singles 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

DOWNINGTOWN WEST 7, BISHOP SHANAHAN 6 » Connor Blence led the Whippets with two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs. For Bishop Shanahan, Simmi Whitehill went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. DOWNINGTOWN EAST 9, AVON GROVE 8 » The Cougars won this contest in the bottom of the seventh inning. Downingtown East’s James Lambe had a trio of RBIs for the winners.
College Men’s tennis MACS’ WATTS RECEIVES HONOR »
The Atlantic East Conference honored Immaculata sophomore Jason Watts as they announced their men’s tennis weekly awards on Tuesday. Watts earned Weekly Honor Roll recognition following a strong week for the Mighty Macs. Watts claimed victory in both first singles and first doubles in the Macs’ 7-2 victory over Gwynedd Mercy, winning his singles match with scores of 6-1 and 6-0.
