45 actors to stage ‘SpongeBob Musical’
COATESVILLE » After a COVID produced hiccup or two, non-profit Revival Productions is working to present its largest production to date.
Forty-five actors and crew are now rehearsing for a May 6-22 run of the “SpongeBob Musical,” which was inspired by the Nickelodeon TV show.
The Revival Conservatory is located at 17 N. Church St. in Coatesville. The play will happen at a different location, Collegium Charter School, at 515 James Hance Court, Exton.
A team of paid professional actors from the TriState Area will tap dance, rap, perform Country music, and a live Foley artist who creates sounds like once performed with an old time radio program will also visit.
Heather Grayberg is executive artistic director with Revival Productions.
“SpongeBob is our biggest show yet and the actors that are a part of this production are just phenomenal,” she said. “This is some of the best talent I’ve ever worked with.”
As part ofthe live action, SpongeBob and his friends need to find a way to save the town of Bikini Bottom from the eruption of a volcano, Mount Humongous. The fun proceeds from there.
Revival Productions has become a major player in the revitalization of Coatesville since the organization opened in July 2020.
Half and full day summer camps are a staple. Children also receive private lessons in voice, piano, instrumental and dance. Group classes are offered in acting and other disciplines.
Summer camps run from June 13-Aug. 13 and feature several options, including troll camps, Enchanted camp (a Disney film) and a Hamilton Camp.
“Our mission is to provide the area with professional, excellent and affordable live entertainment and an arts education,” Grayberg said. “I haven’t found any other art schools in this area with programs anything quite like this.
“It is extremely important that a quality arts education is made available to any student who has an interest.”
Revival works to enrich Coatesville.
“We are dedicated to revitalization in our community through the arts,” Grayberg said. “And we are bringing audience members to the community where they can engage with local merchants, shops and other offerings in the community.”
Grayberg was excited to announce that the nonprofit was awarded a Justamere Foundation grant for $30,000 that will provide subsidized tuition to families and students.
Grayberg is a professional choreographer, actress and union director. She received an undergraduate degree in musical theater from Westminister College of the Arts and a master’s from Rider University.
