Two arrested after exchanging gunfire over sale of a dog
Two men were arrested after they exchanged gunfire this week following a dispute over the sale of a dog in Modena.
Arrested were David Trevon Flowers, 28, of South Coatesville and Troy Lee Hardy, 38, of North Brandywine Avenue in Modena.
It all started Monday morning, May 2, when Flowers and Hardy were discussing the sale of a dog at Hardy’s residence on North Brandywine Avenue, near Fulton Alley. The argument escalated, and police said Hardy pulled out a 9mm handgun and fired a single shot at Flowers’ 2005 GMC Yukon, striking the left fender. With the gun still in his hand, police said Hardy threatened to kill Flowers if he did not pay him money he owned him for the purchase of a dog.
But Flowers retaliated by pulling out his own 9mm handgun and fired three shots at the back of Hardy’s black 2007 Mercedes
Benz, putting three bullet holes in the trunk of the vehicle. Incredibly, no one was injured.
Through witness accounts and further police investigation, bullet casings and two bullet fragments were recovered from the scene. Four witnesses reported hearing four gunshots, one single shot followed by three consecutive gun shots. One witness actually saw the shots being fired from the Yukon into the Mercedes, police said.
Hardy, police said, was on his property and he had a permit to carry a firearm. He voluntarily surrendered his 9mm handgun to police. Police said Flowers “got rid” of his firearm.
Flowers was arrested on May 2 and was charged with recklessly endangering another person, firearms not to be carried without a license, a felony, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. Flowers was transported to district court, where he was arraigned and bail was set at $50,000, and then transported directly to Chester County Prison.
Hardy was arrested on May 5 and charged with recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned and bail was set at $24,000, unsecured.
