Downingtow­n West boys lacrosse team downs Kennett

The Downingtow­n West High School boys lacrosse team defeated Kennett, 1412, Thursday. Owen Lundmark scored 4 goals and Michael Straub scored 3 goals, had 5 assists, and went 27 of 28 at faceoff. Bram Monroe (2 goals, 2 assists), Eddie Moore (1 goal, 1 assist), Bret Bergey (2 goals, 1 assist), Kevin Lundmark (1 goal) and Tom Venzie (1 goal) rounded out the Whippet scoring. Zach Rossman got the win in goal. The Kennett attack was led by Bo Freebery (3 goals, 2 assists), Jake Freebery (2 goals, 3 assists) and Jackie Good (2 goals, 1 assist). WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 12, UNIONVILLE 9 » The Golden Knights were led by Marek Seaman (3 goals, 5 assists), Antonio Santangelo (4 goals), Nate Pechin (3 goals, 2 assists), Mack Thompson (won 13 of 21 faceoffs) and Billy Carney (14 saves). GREAT VALLEY 7, COATESVILL­E 6 » The Patriots got 5 goals from Brady Mitchell, 13 faceoff wins from Andy Talone and 18 saves from Nick Mort. AVON GROVE 11, BISHOP SHANNAHAN 5 » The Red Devils got 5 goals from Preston Boyd, 4 goals from Trent Lucovich, 3 assists from Griffin Edwards and 7 saves from Alex Hammond. WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 5, WEST CHESTER EAST 2 » In this Drew Bauer Memorial Game, the Warriors got 2 goals from Jake Wagner and single goals from Seamus Murphy, Max Abrahams and Charlie Fort. Brett Patton won 5 of 6 faceoffs, and Ryan Timmins recorded 9 saves.

BISHOP SHANAHAN 13, AVON GROVE 8 » Leading the way for the Eagles was Soph Lymberis (3 goals), Paris Masaracchi­a (5 caused turnovers, 5 draw controls), Silvia Baptista (3 goals) and Sam D’Addezio (2 goals, 2 assists). SUN VALLEY 9, OXFORD 8 » Jordan Kane and Alexis Reinard each had hat tricks for the Hornets, Mackenzie Clark caused four opponent turnovers and Paige Boone recorded 10 saves.

WEST CHESTER EAST 4, COATESVILL­E 3 » Winning pitcher Jack Maquire had the game-winning RBI, as the Vikings scored four runs in the sixth inning. Matt Holgado earned a save, striking out 6 batters in 2 innings of relief, and Johnny Walton hit a double for the winners. For Coatesvill­e, RJ Rickabaugh went 2-for-2, Magnus Kreiger has a 2-run double and Ben Jones struck out 10 batters in 5 1/3 innings pitched.

OXFORD 8, UNIONVILLE 7 » The Hornet rallied from a 7-0 deficit to win this game in the bottom of the seventh inning. Oxford’s attack was led by Natalia Donofrio (2 hits, including a triple), Hannah Aker (2 hits, 2 runs), Molly Friel (2 hits, 2 RBIs) and Grace Allen (2 hits, 2 RBIs, double). Unionville’s attack was led by Madison Parisi (3 hits) and Lucy Brucker (home run, 2 RBIs). COATESVILL­E 5, WEST CHESTER EAST 2 » Olivia Springer’s 3 hits led the Raiders’ offense, while Caitlyn Reynolds, Kaitlyn Ward and Maddie Carpenter (both doubles) added 2 hits each. Caitlyn Reynolds earned the win and Megan Gochenauer pitched 3 scoreless innings to earn the save. Grace Koberg had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s for West Chester East. EXETER 11, DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 5 » The Whippets hit three home runs in this contest, by Darby Weller, Nicole Lioumis and Morgan DeFreitas. Weller had three hits for Downingtow­n West, and DeFreitas had two hits.

Co-ed tennis

DELAWARE VALLEY FRIENDS 5, PHELPS 0 » Leading the way for the Dragons (5-2) was Oscar Goldwater with an 8-3 win at first singles. Ayush Dugar won 8-1 at second singles and Julia Campbell won 8-0 at third singles. The first doubles team of Vijay Patel and Sam Lipkin won 8-2 and the second doubles team of Meghan Bradley and Francesca Lopez came from being down 3-6 and won 8-7.

College baseball

IMMACULATA 11, MARYWOOD 0 » The Macs (2411 overall, 13-3 conference) clinched first place in the Atlantic East Conference along with home field advantage throughout the Atlantic East Tournament with this road victory Thursday. Jason Hughes earned his sixth win of the season, pitching seven shutout innings, striking out 11 Pacers batters while allowing seven baserunner­s. Trevor Wagner then finished the shutout, pitching two innings while striking out three. Joey Wright led the Macs’ offensive efforts on the day, going 2-for-5 with five RBI while scoring one run of his own. Frank Margiotta scored four runs, going 3-for-5.
