D-West’s Bergey, Coatevsill­e’s Ellis score 100th career point

Two local high school boys’ lacrosse players, Downingtow­n West’s Bret Bergey and Coatesvill­e’s Owen Ellis, each scored their 100th career point Tuesday during their respective teams’ victories.

Bergey (6 goals, 2 assists) scored his 100th career point during the Whippets’ 15-8 win against Unionville on Senior Night. Other key contributo­rs for D-West included Kevin Lundmark (5 goals, 2 assists), Bram Monroe (2 goals, 2 assists), Eddie Moore (1 goal, 1 assist), Owen Lundmark (2 assists), Michael Straub (1 goal, 5 assists, won 21 of 22 faceoffs) and goalie Zach Rossman (10 saves). Senior Jackson Chiappa was awarded the Brian Houshower scholarshi­p as a graduating senior.

Ellis (3 goals, 4 assists) scored his 100th career point during Coatesvill­e’s 16-2 win against Sun Valley. Other contributo­rs included Tommy Ortega (6 goals, 2 assists), Jake Van Orden (1 goal, 3 assists), Derek Cooper (3 goals), Logan Swisher (won 11 of 14 faceoffs) and goalie Dax Shallis (7 saves).

CONESTOGA 15, HARRITON 6 » Eleven different Pioneers scored, and Pat Reilly, Drew Merschel and Iam Kim each tallied twice. Reilly also dished out 2 assists, and Kim won 11 of 12 faceoffs. AVON GROVE 10, GREAT VALLEY 8 » Preston Boyd and Trent Lucovich both had hat tricks for the Red Devils, and Avon Grove goalie Nate Hammond recorded 9 saves. For the Patriots, Andy Talone had 11 faceoff wins, Daniel Siaton scored 5 goals and Nick Mort recorded 12 saves. WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 13, OXFORD 4 » Antonio Santangelo tallied 5 goals, and both Jake Jackson and Marek Seaman scored two goals and dished out three assists. Rustin goalie Billy Carney recorded 10 saves. WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 3, BISHOP SHANAHAN 2 » Seamus Murphy scored two goals, including the gamewinner with 4 seconds left. Charlie Fort (1 goal, 1 assist) and Ryan Timmins (13 saves) also contribute­d to the victory. The Warriors held Shanahan scoreless for the final three quarters.

CONESTOGA 14, HARRITON 3 » The Pioneers were led by Kate Galica (3 goals, 2 assists), Keating Hopkins (2 goals, 3 ground balls) and Kiki Liebeziet (2 goals, 4 draw controls). DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 11, KENNETT 10 » The Cougars were led by Macenzie Haragos (2 goals), Lexie Conte (1 goal, 2 assists, 3 ground balls, 4 draw controls), Nickie Prendergas­t (7 draw controls), Sofia Fanelli (4 goals) and Addy Mulhern (10 saves). WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 15, OXFORD 7 » For the Hornets, Jordan Kane and Alexis Reinard each scored 2 goals and Mackenzie Clark dished out 2 assists and tallied 1 goal.

IMMACULATA WOMEN EARN

ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS » The Atlantic East Conference announced its women’s track & field AllConfere­nce selections on Tuesday, and Immaculata sophomore Emily Kipers earned one of three AllConfere­nce First Team selections in the pole vault following a three-way tie at the 2.15-meter mark for the gold medal on Sunday. Kipers also became the first heptathlet­e in Immaculata history to compete in a conference meet. Julia Darlak earned All-Conference Second Team in two track events on Sunday. First, Darlak earned the silver medal in the 100-meter dash, posting a 13.64 time. Darlak then earned Second Team honors with her second place finish in the 200-meter, posting a 28.92 time on the event. The Mighty Macs’ 4x100meter relay team of Peyton Hays, Jillian Humphries, Faith Gillin, and Julia Darlak then earned All-Conference Second Team honors on their event, setting the program record with a 54.54 time on the event.
