CTC celebrates 20 years of serving the community

This National Prevention Week, Communities that Care of Greater Downingtown (CTC) is thrilled to be celebrating 20 years of working in the Downingtown community to empower youth by promoting mental health and preventing substance use. National Prevention Week, which runs from May 8 to 14 this year, is a national public education platform bringing together communities and organizations to raise awareness about the importance of substance use prevention and positive mental health.

Bethann Cinelli, Executive Director of CTC of Greater Downingtown, commented on this momentous milestone saying, “In recognition of National Prevention Week, CTC of Greater Downingtown is excited to celebrate 20 years of prevention work in the Downingtown community. CTC is committed to promoting prevention programs and resources for families and youth to prevent substance use and support mental health. We share this amazing prevention journey with our schools, families, and community prevention partners.”

Since it’s start in the 2001-2002 school year, CTC has focused on alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention and education services with a focus on community mobilization; used the PAYS data to identify and prioritize risk and protective factors for the service area; and facilitated many successful prevention programs and awareness campaigns in collaboration with their community partners.

Communities That Care of Greater Downingtown \ is a coalition of organizations, businesses, schools, faith communities, law enforcement, and healthcare providers using evidence based prevention programs and policies to foster positive mental health and youth development. Through a Collective Impact Approach, CTC helps communities identify and implement changes that can help students be successful at school, at home, and in the community.
