Bishop Shanahan girls’ lacrosse captures Ches-Mont National title

The Bishop Shanahan girls’ lacrosse team captured its second consecutiv­e Ches-Mont National Division championsh­ip with a 17-2 win against West Chester East Thursday. The Eagles were led by Ellie Udo (3 goals), Soph Lymberis (2 goals), Paris Masaracchi­a (5 caused turnovers, 7 draw controls, 4 ground balls), Cailtyn Hubiak (2 goals), Alaina Baptista (3 goals), Silvia Baptista (2 goals), Annabelle Wiedel (2 goals), Sam DaDezzio (5 draw controls) and Allie Hathaway (10 saves). WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 12, COATESVILL­E 7 » Skylar Baur tallied four goals for the Golden Knights, and teammate Jordyn Krafchick had a hat trick. Four Rustin players scored one goal each - Elizabeth McGurk, Christine Ditizio, Ella Harrison and Alexys McClain.

Tommy Ortega and Jake Van Orden each scored 2 goals for Coatesvill­e. Dom Varano was 13-for-15 at faceoffs and Dylan Stang and Dylan Dougherty (4 saves) led the way in goal. Coatesvill­e broke a scoreless tie with a 6-run sixth inning. Olivia Springer led off the inning with a home run. Emma Friel’s second hit of the day pushed across another run before Paige Wilkins capped the scoring with a grand slam. Megan Gochenauer pitched 6 scoreless innings allowing only 1 hit while striking out 11 to earn the win. McKenna Frank doubled for Oxford.

The Raiders won their second game of the day by pounding out 18 hits in 2 innings. Ashley Stringer had 3 hits, a double, a triple and 3 RBIs. Maddie Carpenter

had 3 hits including a home run and 4 RBI’s. Olivia Springer had 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Emma Friel, Caitlyn Reynolds, and Caity Hinton added 2 hits. Megan Gochenauer allowed only 1 hit and struck out 4 to earn

the win. Gabrielle Nanni had the lone hit for Henderson.

Baseball

WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 6, COATESVILL­E 1 » Winning pitcher Eddie Smink allowed only 5 hits and a walk in 6 innings, striking out 11 and going 2-for-4 at the plate with a double. Dylan Grim went 2-for-4 with a 2-run double, and Etan Giangiulio went 2-for4. For Coatesvill­e, Jake Stewart went 2-for-3, and Harrison Susi was 1-for-2 with a double.

College baseball

MACS ADVANCE TO ATLANTIC EAST CHAMPIONSH­IP FINAL » The Immaculata University baseball team secured their ticket to the Atlantic East championsh­ip final as they defeated No. 2 Cabrini, 6-0, on Thursday. The Mighty Macs now own a 27-12 record on the season and have won the most games in a single season in program history. Mason Keller pitched 6.1 innings of shutout baseball for the Mighty Macs, keeping the potent Cavaliers offense to two hits and three walks. The Macs’ offense was led by Josh Crowding, who went 1-for-3 with a bases clearing, three-RBI double, scoring one run while walking twice. Joey Wright scored two runs on two walks while Ryan Struble went 3-for-4, scoring one run.

The Mighty Macs return to action today as they compete for the pro-gram’s first Atlantic East Championsh­ip. They will host Marymount in a two-game series. As the victor of the winner’s bracket, the Macs need only win one game to secure the Atlantic East Championsh­ip. Game one between the Mighty Macs and Saints is scheduled for noon. If a game two is necessary, it will follow suit at 3:30 p.m. The Mighty Macs need just one win to claim the championsh­ip title while the Saints need to win both games to regain the championsh­ip title. TWO GOLDEN RAMS NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT » West Chester Uni-versity put two student-athletes on the College of Sports Informatio­n Di-rectors of America (Co-SIDA) NCAA Division II Academic AllDistric­t 2 team it was announced Thursday. Mike Ferrara and Luke Cantwell were both recognized for their efforts both in the classroom as well as on the baseball diamond. Both are now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® award, which will be announced later this month. Ferrara, who holds a 3.78 cumulative grade-point average in Business Management, currently leads the team in hitting with a .369 batting average. Cantwell, who holds a 3.53 cumulative GPA in Business Management, was a preseason first team All-Atlantic Region selection. He tied the school record with three home runs in the first game of the season against St. Rose. Cantwell is fifth on the team in hitting with a .304 batting average. He leads the team with nine home runs and has eight doubles. He has driven in 43 runs and has 11 stolen bases.

Women’s lacrosse

THREE MACS NAMED TO ALLCONFERE­NCE TEAM » Three Immaculata players were named to the Atlantic East women’s lacrosse All-Conference Second Team on Thursday, as announced by the Atlantic East Conference.

Senior Katie Mulvey was named Second Team following a strong senior campaign commanding the Immaculata defense. Mulvey recorded 27 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers. Mulvey is joined on the Second Team All-Conference by sophomores Jackie Murray and Tessa Liberatosc­ioli. Murray ended the season fourth in the conference in goals per game, scoring 60 goals overall. Liberatosc­ioli, a Great Valley High School alum, was first in the league in draw controls per game, recording 103 successful draw controls on the year while also leading the Macs with 20 caused turnovers. She also was a strong offensive presence for the Macs, scoring 47 goals while adding 18 assists on the year.

BRANDYWINE VALLEY SENIOR SOFTBALL » Randy Pritzker, Brad Scheirer, and Gary Zimmerman each went 5-for-5 to lead Carlson’s Auto Body to a 25-22 slugfest win over Boss Automotive. Alan Trimmer was the win-ning pitcher for the Dentmaster­s. Goshen Beverage defeated Ampro Screen Printing, 19-13, as Bob Shemonsky took the win in another Gold Division game, supported by four hits from Larry Trout and three from Jerry Montella. Goshen (4-1) moved into first place with the win.
