Cordelia Cook Wanta MacArthur, 90, passed away on May 21, 2022, surrounded by her family in Downingtow­n.

Born in Coatesvill­e, PA she was a daughter of the late Marshall and Christine Cook. A Chester County resident her whole life, Cordelia

graduated from Scott High School in Coatesvill­e in 1950 and continued her education at Penn State College. She worked as an Art Therapist for special needs patients at Embreevill­e State Hospital and was a founding member of St. Joseph’s People at St. Joseph’s Church in Downingtow­n.

Cordelia enjoyed fox hunting and attending horse shows throughout the area. She will dearly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by her children, George Wanta, Gloria Hawkes (John), Ruth Mattioni (Greg) and Charles Wanta (Terry); grandchild­ren, Rebecca Swiatek (Mike), Linda Molendyke (Kris), Michelle Mattioni and Noah Wanta; great grandchild­ren, Harper Swiatek, Tinsley Swiatek and Maxine and

Calvin Molendyke; and sisters, Charlotte Ward and Corrine Baliff. Cordelia was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Wanta in 1967; and her brothers, Edwin Cook and Delmar Cook.

A private graveside service will be held for the family and a Memorial Mass at St. Joseph Parish in Downingtow­n will be held at a later date.
