Oxford man charged with road rage involving gun
OXFORD >> An Oxford man was arrested in a road rage case involving a gun.
On Sept. 16 at 2:37 a.m., Oxford police were dispatched to the area of South Third and Market streets for a disturbance involving a firearm. The suspect, Omar Baena, 38, of Oxford pulled up to the victims after a road rage incident and displayed a handgun. Officers found Baena’s vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of Market Street and Niblock alley.
Baena, police said, failed to stop, and a short vehicle pursuit ensued, which ended in a parking lot in the 200 block of South Third Street.
Baena exited his vehicle and tried to flee but was apprehended by officers after a brief foot pursuit. A search incident to arrest yielded a loaded handgun concealed in his waistband. Baena was transported by constables to Chester County Prison.
On Sept. 27, Baena failed to appear at a preliminary hearing, therefore a bench warrant will be issued by the Chester County Court of Common Pleas.

Burglary On Sept. 4 at 2:33 a.m., Oxford police were alerted to a burglary that had previously occurred at the Nottingham Elementary School, 736 Garfield St. An open door was found, and the building was checked, but no suspects were located. After securing video footage from the school, it was determined that Dylon Corum, 18, of Nottingham had entered the building with three juveniles by forcing open an exterior door. While inside, Corum removed multiple food items from the school kitchen before exiting. On Sept. 22, an arrest warrant was issued for Corum by Oxford District Court. Corum was taken into custody several hours later and was transported by constables to Chester County Prison. Appropriate charges have also been filed against the three juveniles involved in this incident.
Arrest in barricade case Oxford police arrested Darrell Antwon Thomas, 38, of Cochranville in connection to a barricade incident that took place Sept. 23. At about 1:25 p.m., Oxford police received a call about an incident in the area of Second and Coach streets of a subject possibly in violation of a protection from abuse order. Upon arrival of police, the subject barricaded himself inside the residence with two large dogs. It was unknown if the subject had any weapons in his possession. Officers secured the scene and surrounding areas. Oxford Area School District was contacted to reroute all buses in the area. The nearby Bright Beginnings Daycare was contacted and advised to enter in lockdown. During the incident, an officer was in contact with day care personnel and advised them that they were not in direct danger. After 45 minutes of negotiating, Thomas surrendered and was taken into custody without incident. Thomas was transported by constables to Chester County Prison and is being held on a $20,000 bail.
West Chester
Assault On Oct. 2 at about 11 a.m., West Chester police responded to the 100 block of Dean Street for the report of a domestic disturbance. Through an investigation, it was determined that Nicholas Hinds, 20, of West Chester, assaulted another person inside of a residence. Hinds was arrested and charged with simple assault and harassment. Hinds was processed and transported to Chester County Prison for arraignment.
