Man arrested on gun, drug charges following early morning traffic stop in Coatesville
A Coatesville man was arrested on weapons and drug charges following a traffic stop in Coatesville.
On Jan. 30, 2023 at approximately 3 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop of an unregistered vehicle in the 300 block of East Chestnut Street in Coatesville. Contact was made with the driver and two other occupants of the vehicle. During a consent search of the vehicle, a loaded polymer handgun and small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located.
The items were found to belong to a passenger of the vehicle, Frederick Mason, age 27. Mason was taken into custody and transported to station where he was processed and arraigned on charges of firearms not to be carried without a license and possession of small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mason was unable to post bail and remanded to the Chester County Prison.

State police are investigating a Jan. 29 robbery at the CVS on Baltimore Pike in East Marlborough Township. Two people, a man and a woman, stole an estimated $562 worth of merchandise, police said.
Oxford Narcotics found
On Feb. 6, 2023, an Oxford Public Works employee found a Ziplock bag containing the narcotics in the attached photo. The bag was found in the area of Sunny Dell Foods on North Fifth Street. If anyone misplaced their bag of narcotics, please stop by the Police Department to claim your property.
Warrant
On Jan. 31, 2023, at 12:50 p.m. the Oxford Police attempted a warrant service in the unit block of Addison Street. Contact was made with Jonathan Zavala-Alfaro, 21, of Oxford who was confirmed to have a Chester County Bench Warrant for failure to appear for a DUI. Zavala-Alfaro was taken into custody without incident and transported by Constables to Chester County Prison.
Unlawful use of credit card
On Jan. 30, Michael D. Johnson (42-year-old of Philadelphia, PA) was released from the custody of Philadelphia Department of Prisons to the custody of the Westtown-East Goshen Police for extradition to Chester County, PA, related to an Arrest Warrant issued by the Westtown-East Goshen Police on 10/9/2019 following an investigation into the unauthorized use of an East Goshen Township resident’s credit card in May 2019. Michael Johnson’s bail was set at $15,000, and his preliminary hearing was scheduled at District Court.
West Chester Terroristic threats
On Jan. 27 at approximately 9:29 p.m., West Chester Police officers responded to a residence in the 300 Block of Star Tavern Lane for the report of a disturbance. Following an investigation, Stephen Hawkins, 41, West Chester, was taken into custody for terroristic threats and harassment. Hawkins was transported to West Chester Police Department for processing and then to Chester County Prison for arraignment. A preliminary hearing is pending at District Court.
