Margaret “Peg” Wilson
We are saddened to inform you Margaret “Peg” Frances Cooper (Hurley) Wilson passed away on January 1, 2023. She was the wife of Samuel R Wilson and Elmer W Hurley who both preceded her in death. She is survived by her dear friend and partner of 15 years, Donald Thompson. Peggy was the daughter of Edna Ward and Walter Cooper. She was the stepdaughter of Eugene Ward and sister of William Harlan, all of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Imhof and son-inlaw Howard Imhof of Chester Spring PA, daughter Linda Hurley of Rhode Island and beloved grandsons, Michael and Christian Thompson of Charlottesville North Carolina.
Peggy was a 1950 graduate of Unionville High School where she was a cheerleader and played the flute in the orchestra. She was employed by her parents in three establishments in Chester County: The Country Tavern, The White Horse Inn and the Shadyside Inn. She later managed a prominent bridal salon in West Chester PA. She was an lifetime active member of Doe Run Presbyterian Church and created the Women’s Quilting Initiative to raise funds. She loved fishing, bowling, tennis, traveling, sewing, music and even more recently “tried” golf with Don. Most importantly she loved children, animals and those most vulnerable. She volunteered every Monday for more than 20 years at Ware Presbyterian Village. She never missed a chance to spend time with her nieces and nephews and her home was seldom without neighbors’ children and four-legged furry family members. She loved life. One of her favorite quotes summarizes her “Live, Love, Laugh, Leave”. Peggy did just that.
