Police launch manhunt for suspect in shooting
A Coatesville man is fighting for his life following a shooting in Coatesville, and police have launched a manhunt for a suspect wanted in connection with the shooting.
On Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, around 3 p.m., the City of Coatesville Police Department were dispatched to a shooting in the 500 block of East Harmony Street. Upon arrival Officers located the victim, Dwayne Miller Jr. 22, who was shot once in the chest. Miller was transported to Paoli Hospital and underwent emergency surgery and is currently listed in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
As a result of the shooting, and following an investigation, an arrest warrant was issued on February 9 for Matthew Charles Rodgers, age 23. Rodgers has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, felon not to possess a firearm, firearms not to be carried without a license, recklessly endangering another person, possessing instrument of crime with intent to employ it criminally, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said Rodgers is considered armed and dangerous.

Gun violence played a role in several cases in Coatesville last year.
In May, Mamadou Kallie, 23, was arrested and charged in the murders of Tiara Rodriguez-Diaz, 20, and Kimberly Ortiz-Zayas, 21, both of Coatesville. Kallie was also charged in the killing of Ortiz-Zayas’ unborn child.
And in June, a 38-year-old man was fatally shot at Fifth and Lincoln Highway in Coatesville around 9 p.m.
