Mary Lou Williford

-

Mary Lou Williford, 79, formerly of Downingtown, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Eagleview Landing, Exton. She was the wife of the late Harry Alan Williford.

Born in Avalon, NJ on August 21, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Joseph John and Mary (Donohue) Voss. Her sons remember her telling the story of the surprise birth of her and her brother by a Pharmacist in Avalon, as their Mom did not know she was carrying twins. Following her graduation from high school, Mary Lou went on to receive her Associate’s Degree, and worked at several different locations over her 24-year career as a Secretary. A woman with a strong faith, she was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for 42 years, and enjoyed attending other churches in the area. Mary Lou was a proud Blue Star Mother, supporting her son serving in the military and her country. A favorite memory of hers, riding on the same float as Cindy McCain, Tom Selek and Rudy Giuliani in the New York Veteran’s Day Parade. Mary Lou loved to sing, play piano and guitar, and was fan of Philadelphia sports teams. A great passion in her life was supporting people on their path to recovery, and being an advocate for those in AA. Most notable of all, Mary Lou was a selfless person, and a devoted mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her sons Michael T. Williford (Martina) of West Chester, PA, Matthew J. Williford (Nora) of Kingsford, MI, Craig J. Williford (Melissa) of Golden, CO; grandchildren Cole, Caitlin, Cassidy, Connor, Hunter, Dalton and Teddy; twin brother Frederick Voss (Maria); and several nieces and nephews . She was preceded in death by brothers John and Joseph Voss.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 10 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 233 W Gay Street, West Chester, PA 19380. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 am prior to mass at the church. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary Lou’s memory to the Salvation Army.
