Lincoln women top Shaw to remain in first place

The Lincoln women’s basketball team topped Shaw (N.C.) 65-58 on Saturday to remain in first place in the CIAA Northern Division. The Lions are now 11-3 in the league (17-8 overall).

Kania Pollock led all scorers with 16 and she added five boards and four assists. Anyssa Fields chipped in 13 points and eight rebounds, and Ciani Montgomery and D’Ayzha Atkinson added 12 and 10 points, respective­ly, off the bench.

DeSales 88, Immaculata 54 >> The Macs dropped their final non-conference match-up of the year. Senior

Erin Kelly had a career high 15 points in the contest, while sophomore Abigail Lentowski also had 15 for the Macs. Overall, IU shot 50% from three and 93.8% from the free throw line.

Men’s Basketball

LINCOLN 74, SHAW 67 >> There were 10 ties and 11 lead changes, but the Lions ultimately prevailed in a CIAA road game. Reggie Hudson had 17 points and seven assists and Peter Sorber added 13 points and nine rebounds for Lincoln (7-7, 13-12). Freddie Young came off the bench to chip in 14 points.

The team of Peter McHugh, Christophe­r Watson, Nicholas Speakman-Viggiano and Chris Mendoza placed 10th in the 4 x 200-meter relay at the Alvernia Plex Shootout. The time was 1:39.88, which sets a new program record.

Kipers breaks IU record >> For the third straight week, Immaculata’s Emily Kipers broke the school indoor record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 12.55 at the Alvernia Plex

High School Wrestling DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 45, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 18 >>

The Cougars (9-6) won the last nine bouts to run away with the non-league dual meet. Paxson Warnock (139 pounds), Brandon Pacinelli (152), Ryan Loraw (160), Cade McDowell (172) and Adham Abouraya (285) won by fall for East, who wraps up its regular season at Pottsgrove, Wednesday night.
