Chestnut Knoll residents recognized for participation in wellness program

-

Staff and family gathered to recognize Chestnut Knoll Personal Care and Memory Care residents participating in the senior community’s FOX Optimal Living Program by FOX Rehabilitation during an annual awards ceremony on Feb. 5.

The FOX awards recognize residents who have demonstrated dedication and commitment to their wellness programs and achievements within Chestnut Knoll’s FOX Optimal Living program.

Loretta Fronheiser received the afternoon’s highest honor, the Dene Liott Award, presented by former award recipients Virginia Snyder and Barbara Thornton.

The Dene Liott Award is named in honor of the Pottstown resident and longtime advocate for seniors and caregiver awareness and creator of “What’s Happening,” a former educational program about issues surrounding aging that aired on PCTV.

“We have a great team of FOX clinicians and Chestnut Knoll staff that work with our residents one-onone or in groups to help them achieve their wellness results, but it’s ultimately up to our residents to do the work,” said Chestnut Knoll Marketing Director Julie Krasley. “Their determination is nothing short of astounding; they all have a fighting spirit to persevere through their challenges, and today is a result of their successes.”

Residents in Personal Care and Memory Care are also recognized throughout the year with a Spotlight Award for demonstrating improved functional independence and an ongoing dedication to their overall health and wellness.

Kay Schoenewald, Mildred Augustine, Lois Hayer, Kim Dodds and Edith Shaninger received Spotlight Awards.

Chestnut Knoll, 120 W. Fifth St., Boyertown, has offered FOX Rehabilitation wellness services since 2013. The FOX Optimal Living program, which averages 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week, reinvents rehabilitation and is designed to enhance physical and emotional well-being through exercises and therapy services to promote better living, longevity, spirit, and dignity.
