COUPLES RENEW WEDDING VOWS AT CHESTNUT KNOLL

-

On Valentine’s Day, two couples from Chestnut Knoll celebrated the holiday of love by renewing their wedding vows.

Residents Don and Grace Campbell and Dick and Ruth Clark said, “I do,” again in front of family and friends inside the dining room at the senior living community in Boyertown.

Michael Sullivan, the chaplain of Caring Hospice Services, officiated the ceremony that included a special moment recognizing the spouses who have passed away.

“Michael did a beautiful job officiating,” Grace Campbell said. “I was able to laugh through even though I was feeling so emotional through the whole ceremony, thinking of what a wonderful life Don and I have had.”

The Campbells celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on Feb. 11. The couple met at a dance at Holy Cross Church in Mt. Airy, a neighborhood in Philadelphia.

Dick and Ruth Clark found each other later in life. They met at church and have been inseparable ever since.

Ernest Knechel was in the audience, comforted by his daughter Sandy Niermans.

Knechel’s wife, Mildred, died two weeks prior to the ceremony. He and Mildred were married for 76 years.

“I am thankful to Chestnut Knoll for honoring Millie’s memory,” Knechel said. “I thought the ceremony was beautiful; I miss her every day.”
