D lived her life educating and serving others in need. After graduating from The Ohio State University she had her first primary education role in Fort Lauderdale where she would meet a young Philadelphian, Grant Wood, while he was on winter break.

They would marry in June of 1957, 3 months after their first date, and would become life long partners.

D dedicated time to volunteering with AAUW and her Church and would later take on retail roles with Lord & Taylor then manager of The Amour Bridal Shop.

She found joy in gardening and physical activities including training for race walking competitions and undertaking an “over 50” Outward Bound adventure in the Florida Everglades, complete with a 24 hour solo period, alligators and all!

Retirement brought D and Grant back East, first to Surf City, NJ where she taught others how to race walk and then West Chester, PA where she graduated in 1999 with her Masters in Psychology.

D dedicated her services at the Chester County’s crisis residence as a beloved counselor known for conducting counseling sessions and home cooked Sunday dinners, complete with dessert.
