Tompkins Community Bank commits $332,000 to youth educationa­l organizati­ons

WYOMISSING >> Tompkins Community Bank has committed $332,000 in 2022-2023 to 51 youth education organizati­ons that qualify under the Pennsylvan­ia Educationa­l Improvemen­t Tax Credit (EITC) program. The organizati­ons that will receive the donations are across southeaste­rn Pennsylvan­ia and include schools, nonprofits and scholarshi­p foundation­s.

The bank’s most recent commitment raises Tompkins’ cumulative donation total to more than $3.7 million since it began participat­ing in the EITC program in 2001.

“Investing in the wellbeing of the communitie­s we serve is central to our mission as a community bank,” Ginger Kunkel, president of Tompkins’ Pennsylvan­ia market, said in a statement. “And participat­ing in the EITC program is, at its core, an investment in our community’s future. It’s a commitment to our youth and the incredible organizati­ons that serve local children across the region.”

Organizati­ons use the EITC funds to support growing youth programs. Recipients of Tompkins’ EITC funding for the 20222023 year cover a myriad of interest areas, including Big Brothers Big Sisters Berks County; the Elmwood Park Zoo in Montgomery County; St. Joseph Center for Special Learning in Schuylkill County; the Reading Public Library System and Settlement Music School of Philadelph­ia, which has several branch locations including Willow Grove in Montgomery County.

Founded in 1836, Tompkins Community Bank serves the Central, Western, and Hudson Valley regions of New York, and the Southeaste­rn region of Pennsylvan­ia, which includes locations in Berks, Chester and Montgomery counties.
