Tompkins Community Bank commits $332,000 to youth educational organizations

WYOMISSING >> Tompkins Community Bank has committed $332,000 in 2022-2023 to 51 youth education organizations that qualify under the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. The organizations that will receive the donations are across southeastern Pennsylvania and include schools, nonprofits and scholarship foundations.

The bank’s most recent commitment raises Tompkins’ cumulative donation total to more than $3.7 million since it began participating in the EITC program in 2001.

“Investing in the wellbeing of the communities we serve is central to our mission as a community bank,” Ginger Kunkel, president of Tompkins’ Pennsylvania market, said in a statement. “And participating in the EITC program is, at its core, an investment in our community’s future. It’s a commitment to our youth and the incredible organizations that serve local children across the region.”

Organizations use the EITC funds to support growing youth programs. Recipients of Tompkins’ EITC funding for the 20222023 year cover a myriad of interest areas, including Big Brothers Big Sisters Berks County; the Elmwood Park Zoo in Montgomery County; St. Joseph Center for Special Learning in Schuylkill County; the Reading Public Library System and Settlement Music School of Philadelphia, which has several branch locations including Willow Grove in Montgomery County.

Founded in 1836, Tompkins Community Bank serves the Central, Western, and Hudson Valley regions of New York, and the Southeastern region of Pennsylvania, which includes locations in Berks, Chester and Montgomery counties.
