With great sadness we announce the passing of Albert P. Massey, Jr. on Saturday, March 11, 2023. He is survived by his brother and sisterin-law, Donald and Connie Massey; his children and their spouses, Lisa and Brad Wolf (Lancaster, PA), Bill and Amy Massey (Newton, MA) and David and Jackie Massey (Havertown, PA); He was the much-loved grandfathe­r of Dylan Wolf, Emma Wolf, Devon Massey, Finley Massey, Sabine Massey, Shannon Massey, David Massey, and Alexandra Massey. He was the cherished uncle to Kerri and her husband Nate Zettel and their children, Benton and Scarlett. Albert was predecease­d by his wife, Michelle Massey, on December 7, 2022.

Al was born in Philadelph­ia, PA on January 27, 1940 to Iris (Entwistle) and Albert P. Massey, Sr. He received both his undergradu­ate degree in Economics (1961) and his law degree (1964) from Villanova University, where he served as alumni President in 1968. He was active in the Chester County Bar Associatio­n (President, 1982) and the Pennsylvan­ia Bar Associatio­n (Vice President, 19831984, President, 1984-1985). He was a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Pennsylvan­ia Bar Foundation, (Vice President, 1987-1988, President from 1988-1991). He was a member of the Board of the Pennsylvan­ia Lawyers Fund for Client Security (1987-1995) (Chairman, 1993-1995) and served as Chairman of the Chester County Republican Committee (1977-1983). Al also served on the boards of a number of community associatio­ns and was a member of the choir of St. Norbert’s Catholic Church of Paoli. His extensive community involvemen­t earned him the Involved Citizen of the Year Award given by the League of Women Voters.

He began his practice of law in 1964 and was known primarily as a bridge-builder and a peacemaker, often sought after as the person who could bring people to the table to talk reasonably through mutual points of resolution. He continued his practice at Lentz, Cantor, Massey, Ltd., in Chester County until his death.

In his free time, Al could be found at Aronomink Golf Club with his many friends or, in earlier years, out on his beloved boat, TimeAway, which he and Michelle put out in the Chesapeake Bay area every summer for almost two decades.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a joint Funeral Mass to memorializ­e both Albert and Michelle Massey on Friday, May 19th at 11:00 a.m.at St. Norbert Church in Paoli. Visitation will begin Friday morning 9:30-11:00 in the Church.
