Stephen Joseph Kelly, 61, of Kennett Square Pennsylvania, passed away on April 26, 2023. He was born July 23, 1961 in Wilmington, Delaware to Virginia (Ginny) and Jay Kelly.
Steve, a most loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and nephew is survived by his wife, Robin Krug, son, Hank Kelly, father, Jay Kelly, sister Christine Kelly, brother Thomas Kelly and wife Kathy, and brother Timothy Kelly and wife Vicki. Uncle Steve spent a lot of quality time with his nieces Kelly Barraclough, Megan and Delaney Kelly, and Lindsay and Laine Kelly. He provided life lessons to his nephews, Michael Kaminski, Alex Marvel, and Sean Kelly. He also leaves behind his beloved Aunt Tracy Mulveny who was like a second mother to the Kelly boys. His Aunt Colleen Kelly provided him with wisdom and inspiration while his Uncle Mark Kelly simply shook his head and laughed whenever they were together. Steve joins his mother Ginny and uncle Dr. Carl Mulveny in heaven.
Upon graduation from William Penn High School in 1979, Steve, or “Bozius” to his college friends, attended the University of Delaware, graduating in 1983 with a degree in Economics. He followed his Blue Hen experience at Delaware Law School, graduating with a Juris Doctorate in 1986. Steve began his legal career working for the House of Representatives for the State of Delaware. He served as a judicial law clerk before joining the Chester County District Attorney’s Office where he served as a senior trial lawyer for over 27 years. Steve joined the law practice of Brutscher, Foley, Milliner, Land & Kelly in 2014. Steve won many major victories for clients in numerous venues throughout the area, including federal and state courts, and before various boards and commissions.
Steve was very active in the local community. He worked extensively with church and neighborhood groups on revitalization efforts in the City of Coatesville, and he served for many years on behalf of the residents of Kennett Square as a member of borough council. He served on the Chester County Prothonotary’s Advisory Committee and enjoyed volunteering with community-oriented groups such as the Joseph & Sarah Carter Community Development Corporation.
Steve met his loving wife Robin at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach, Delaware in 1995. They were married at the home of their close friends, Josh and Brenda Boucher in 1997. He truly enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and fishing in Lewes, Delaware. He was an avid cycler, gardener, fisherman, and music lover (except for Bruce Springsteen). Steve will truly be missed and in our hearts forever.
