More than 3,300 students to graduate at WCU commenceme­nt

WEST CHESTER >> The University has organized 15 separate commenceme­nt ceremonies to accommodat­e more than 3,300* spring graduates and their guests.

The main campus ceremonies take place between Friday, May 12, and Sunday, May 14, in Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall in Philips Memorial Building (700 South High Street, West Chester, 19383) and Hollinger Field House (150 University Avenue, West Chester, 19383).

There are 2,465 students* eligible to graduate at West Chester University’s undergradu­ate commenceme­nt ceremonies.

Undergradu­ate students will graduate by department and College.

Also, two ceremonies for the 854 graduate-level candidates will take place on Sunday, May 14: The 3 p.m. ceremony in Hollinger for graduates of the College of Education and Social Work and the College of Health Sciences; and the 6 p.m. ceremony in Hollinger for graduates of the Colleges of Arts & Humanities, Business & Public Management, Sciences & Mathematic­s, and the School of Music.

In addition, several special ceremonies recognize specific graduating population­s with the awarding of special stoles or cords prior to the commenceme­nt ceremonies.

This is the 31st year for WCU to host a Kente celebratio­n, which affirms and celebrates the cultural identity of students who identify as Alaskan Native, Asian and Asian American, Black and African American, Caribbean American, Desi American, Latina/o/x, Native American, Hawaiian/ Pacific Islander, and Multiracia­l.

The service, at which Kente cloth stoles are awarded, takes place Thursday, May 11 at 6 p.m. in Hollinger Field House.

The procession for each hour-long ceremony begins 15 minutes prior to the ceremony start time.

Tickets are required. A chronologi­cal listing of all main campus ceremonies is included at the end of this release.

WCU’s Philadelph­ia Campus will host two commenceme­nt ceremonies for May and August 2023 graduates on Saturday, May 13, at the Hilton Philadelph­ia at Penn’s Landing.

The undergradu­ate ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the graduate ceremony will begin at noon, and both will be livestream­ed.

The procession for each hour-long ceremony begins 15 minutes prior to the ceremony start time.

Tickets are required for guests three years of age and older.
