Montgomery School cuts ribbon at Innovation Center
Montgomery School in Chester Springs held the ribbon cutting of its new Innovation Center in the expansive ground level of the W. Perry Gresh Academic Center on Friday, Sept. 8, 2023. The Innovation Center brings to fruition the completion of the full vision of the Gresh Academic Center that was built in 2007.
Over the past year, construction has been underway on the 3,500 sq. ft. space. The Innovation Center was created for teachers and students to utilize as they explore, design, build, and learn. The Center’s Design and Fabrication Labs are the new home for the school’s design thinking and maker activities, in an environment that inspires exploration and imagination.
The Collaboration Hub is a multi-use space for student and community presentations, performances, exhibitions, and creative project displays. Together with the J. Bennett Hill library located on the upper level, the new spaces are part of Montgomery’s transformative Innovation Center.
Tom McManus, Head of School, and the PreK through 8 student body led the ribbon cutting ceremony Friday. The school, located at 1141 Kimberton Road in Chester Springs, is a PreK-8 independent, co-ed school on a 60-acre campus.
Building the Innovation Center has been a priority of school Trustees and leadership. Thanks to the generous support of a group of dedicated donors, including members of W. Perry Gresh’s family, and Montgomery School community members and Trustees, this project broke ground in No- vember 2022 and was completed by the end of August 2023.
