Rustin edges Unionville by a single stroke in rematch

In a monumental rematch, the West Chester Rustin boys’ golf squad slipped past previously unbeaten Unionville, 188-189, at soggy Penn Oaks Golf Club Tuesday. The Longhorns edged the Golden Knights’ by three strokes earlier this season. Rustin’s Sam Feeney shared medalist honors with Unionville’s Charlie Barrickman with even-par rounds of 35. Sophia DeSantis and Cole Berry added 37s for the Knights. Michael Keller and Nicholas Gaughan carded identical 38s for the ’Horns (14-1 overall). DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 224, COATESVILL­E 226 >> The Cougars edged past the Raiders in action at Whitford Country Club. Freshman Calvin Pace eagles the parfive ninth hole to secure the victory, and Charlie Thompson led the way with a 41 for East. Coatesvill­e’s Braydon Jackatt was the medalist with a 40. AVON GROVE 193, WEST CHESTER EAST 195 >> In ChesMont American action, the Red Devils nipped the Vikings at Honey Brook Golf Club. Tyler Sikorski, Trevor Sikorski and Rider Nicholl paced Avon Grove with 38s. Thomas Baschoff was the medalist with a 37 for East.

UNIONVILLE 6, OXFORD 0 >> Charlie Undorf notched the first two goals to lead the ’Horns to a Ches-Mont victory. Jax Pinkston added a goal and an assist for Unionville (5-4 overall). John Reichert and Deyvi Ramos also played a strong math for the Longhorns. BISHOP SHANAHAN 2, COATESVILL­E 2 >> Braden Rice opened the scoring for Shanahan in the 21st minute on an assist from Michael Ziegler. Patrick Moore then scored in the eightynint­h minute of the first half on a corner kick from Emil Eusemann. Shane Hughes had eight saves for the Eagles. Gavin Massimi had 10 saves in the losing effort for Coatesvill­e.

the Vikings won this non-league clash 2516, 25-14, 24-26, 25-17 to improve to 10-1 overall. Katie McPeak (37 assists), Alexa Mork (20 kills, 15 digs), Annie Kerns (seven kills), Lauren Cuskey (11 kills) and Izzy Byrne (20 digs) to pace East. WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 3, GREAT VALLEY 0 >> The Knights swept the Patriots 25-22, 25-16, 25-18. Jane Nelson paced the winners with 19 kills, Kelly Fricker added 22 digs and Victoria D’Ulisse had 31 assists. SUN VALLEY 3, DOWNINGTOW­N

WEST 0 >> The Whippets fell to the Vanguards 25-20, 25-23, 25-12. Emma Halveston (four kills, two blocks), Ava Brotze (five kills) and Fallon Mitchell (four kills, two aces, 10 digs) led the way for West (2-4, 3-7). Madi Dougherty (13 digs, two aces), Maggie McLaughlin (13 assists, two aces) and Sarah Sherner (11 assists, two aces) also contribute­d for the Whippets. WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 3, KENNETT 0 >> Olivia Sladicka registered 19 kills to power the Warriors past the Demons 25-12, 25-11, 25-13. Charlotte McClain chipped in with 24 assists and Mia Herbert notched four aces for Henderson. UNIONVILLE 3, OXFORD 0 >> The Longhorns swept the Hornets in Ches-Mont action 25-19, 25-15, 25-15. Ava Brenner led the way with 12 kills, Brianna Miller added eight kills and Olivia Harper dished out 29 assists.

College Field Hockey WEST CHESTER 3, BLOOMSBURG 2 (OT) >>

Jasmine Miller scored two goals, including the overtime game-winner, to lead fifth-ranked West Chester to a win over ninthranke­d Bloomsburg. The Golden Rams (2-0 PSAC, 6-2 overall) have now won 13 straight against the Huskies

(1-2, 7-2).

Miller notched her second overtime game winning goal this season and third in two years when she took a long feed from Morgan Becker (West Chester East), spun to her left and tucked the ball under the sprawled out Huskies’ keeper and into the back of the cage with seven minutes gone in the extra session. It was her conference-leading 12th goal of the season over just eight games.

West Chester jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a tally by Paige Wolfe (Downingtow­n East) in the second quarter and another four minutes into the third. However, Bloomsburg stormed back with two of its own to knot things up.

Men’s Soccer SUSQUEHANN­A 1, IMMACULATA 0 >>

The Mighty Macs offense took 15 shots on the evening, with graduate student Josh Fonder putting two of those on goal, but it wasn’t enough. Junior Ryan Straub continued his solid play in goal for the Macs, tallying six saves in 14 shots faced.

Women’s Soccer HAVERFORD 7, IMMACULATA 0>>

The Fords totaled 30 shots and led 2-0 at the half. The Mighty Macs goalkeeper Emily Guthier registered 10 saves in the match.
