Noteworthy: Kadjar ran for 218yards and two TDs in his first varsity game to help Chatsworth top Taft 47-3 in a West Valley League contest. It was a good return to the football field for the Chancellors after going 518 days since their last game in November of 2019.

Soccer/track & field Sophomore
Thompson receives the honor for the second week in a row. She didn’t just score goals this time, she also set a statebest time in track and field. Thompson scored four goals in a win over Alemany 8-0and four goals in a 7-1win over Chaminade. She then posted a time of 12.05 seconds in the 100meters.

1. Birmingham Charter (1-2): The Patriots are the defending City Section Open Division champions, and it will take a lot to beat them. Birmingham beat Canoga Park 55-3 last week.

The Regents went on the road and beat Crenshaw 22-14. Quarterback Kameran Charles is the key to the offense.

3. Granada Hills Charter (1-0): The Highlanders have a knowledgeable coach in Bucky Brooks and a sound running game. Granada Hills won its opener against Cleveland 32-20. Dijon Stanley ran for 226 yards and three
TDs on 31 carries. Fellow tailback Sam Aberduro picked up 174 yards and a TD on 26 carries.

Chris Ochoa, Kanan Kadjar and Khaden Harris are explosive playmakers and they anchored a 47-3 win over Taft. Kadjar had 218 yards and two touchdowns running.

5. El Camino Real (0-3): ECR has already played three games this season, giving it a huge advantage over most City Section opponents. The team didn’t play last week due to a positive COVID-19 test. Next up: vs. Chatsworth, Friday, 7 p.m.
