Disneyland offering discounted tickets during peak period

- By Brady MacDonald bmacdonald@scng.com

Disneyland is bringing back discounted multiday ticket offers for California residents in the middle of summer as the Anaheim theme park continues its phased reopening after a 412-day coronavirus closure.

Californians can purchase $249 three-day single-park tickets that allow access to either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure, or $304 three-day parkhopper tickets that will get them into both parks on a single day.

It’s a pretty good deal for the typically pricey

tickets, with the single-park discount tickets running $83 per day and the discounted parkhoppers costing $101 per day.

By comparison, a single-day Tier 1 ticket costs $104 while a parkhopper will set people back $159. The highest-priced Tier 5 tickets cost $149 for a single park and $209 for a parkhopper. They went on sale Tuesday.

Disneyland typically offers Southern California resident discounts just as the Christmas holiday decorations get put away for another season and the slower winter months begin. But this year is different, like everything else.

The discount tickets are being offered during the peak summer season and available to all Californians, not just Southern California residents. Another big difference: Disneyland and DCA now require advance reservations. That means the California discount tickets are subject to reservation availability.

Parkhopper reservations at both parks along with Disneyland single-park reservations are available every day through October. DCA reservations are only sold out for a few days during the same period. But don’t expect that availability to last long with the discount tickets going on sale.

Last year’s SoCal discount ticket season — which ran from Jan. 7 to May 21 — was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic that closed Disneyland and Disney California Adventure in March 2020. Both parks reopened on April 30.

The discount tickets can be redeemed through Sept. 30 and purchased at disneyland.com or by calling 866-572-7321.

Disneyland is not offering two-day California discount tickets as the park has in previous years for SoCal residents. Proof of residency within California ZIP codes 90000-96199 or Northern Baja ZIP codes 21000-22999 is required to purchase and use the tickets.

Disney also is offering 20- to 25% discounts through Oct. 2 on rooms at the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, but not the lowerpriced Paradise Pier Hotel.
