No. 5 Texas A&M gets past Colorado
Backup quarterback Zach Calzada threw an 18yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Spiller with 2:41 remaining and fifth-ranked Texas A&M escaped Empower Field at Mile High with a 10-7 win over Colorado on Saturday.
Spiller’s TD gave the Aggies (2-0) their first lead on a day in which they lost freshman QB Haynes King to a lower right leg injury and eight of their first nine drives were three-and-outs.
Colorado’s hopes of an upset over the 17-point favorite Aggies ended when Brendon Lewis’ pass to Dimitri Stanley on fourthand-13 from his 22 covered just 12 yards.
The Aggies, whose 10game winning streak is second-longest in the nation to Alabama, took over with 1:39 left and ran out the clock on the Buffs (11), who managed just one first down after taking a 7-3 halftime lead.
The former Big 12 adversaries hadn’t played each other since 2009 before the Aggies bolted to the Southeastern Conference and the Buffs headed to the Pac-12.

Quentin Johnston caught two of Max Duggan’s three touchdown passes, with the goahead score coming on a nifty catch-and-run as the Horned Frogs beat the visiting Golden Bears to remain undefeated against Pac-12 teams under coach Gary Patterson.
Johnston put the Horned Frogs (2-0) ahead to stay with the 45-yard TD catch with 9:53 left.
Zach Evans ran for 183 yards on 22 carries, with a 51-yard TD just before halftime for the Horned Frogs. Duggan completed 17 of 31 passes for 234 yards and added 71 yards rushing on 19 carries with a 9-yard keeper for a TD with 5:47 left for a 34-26 lead.
Chase Garbers threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns
for Cal (0-2). He had 235 yards passing in the first half, with 199 of that coming on only four plays (49, 54, 28 and 68 yards).
The Bears have 0-2 starts in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1994 and 1995.
Blake Corum ran for 171 yards and three touchdowns, including a 67-yarder in the second quarter, and the Wolverines (2-0) beat the Huskies (0-2), who have lost their first two games for the first time since 2008 when they finished 0-12.
Jayden de Laura threw three TD passes and ran for another score as the Cougars beat the Vikings.
Deon McIntosh rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown and Max Borghi added 59 yards and a TD for Washington State (1-1).

Samuel Grandsir scored in the 80th minute and the Galaxy tied the Colorado Rapids 1-1 on Saturday.
The Galaxy (11-8-4) had their winless run extended to four games. The Galaxy didn’t go consecutive matches without a win in their first 12 games this season. Colorado (12-4-6) is unbeaten in seven straight games against Los Angeles, dating to the start of the 2018 season.
