Have you flashed your vax passport?

-

What’s more iconically Southern Californian than going to a Dodger game in Chavez Ravine?

Nothing is.

And this week the landmark mid-century modern Dodger Stadium, which somehow has become the third-oldest ballpark in the major leagues, is hosting the National League Division Series between the Dodgers and their ancient rivals the San Francisco Giants, two teams that have been playing each other since 1892, when both outfits were in New York City.

Who wouldn’t want to be in the stands for that?

But if you are going to a game, you know there’s a new requirement for stadium entry, other than a coveted ticket: a vaccine passport.

Stadium policy, in accordance with county guidelines for events with more than 10,000 attendees, is that all fans over age 12 are required to show proof prior to entry of either full vaccination against deadly COVID-19 or of a negative viral test taken within 72 hours of start time.

Otherwise, you’ll be catching that game on TV with the rest of us.

Other Southern California places, from restaurants to concert venues, require vaccine passports for entry.

Is that mandate for the greater good of the public health and the end of the pandemic, or is it an unprecedented intrusion by government into our collective medical privacy and personal lives?

That’s our Question of the Week for readers.

Do you support vaccine mandates here, and around the country and the globe?

If you’ve shown your papers, as it were, to a restaurant hostess or at a stadium turnstile, what’s been your experience? Did it all go smoothly or create a logjam? Did you use an iPhone app or show your physical vaccination card? Do you worry that such cards or facsimiles could be counterfeited? Once inside a passported venue, do you have fewer worries about your health, knowing other guests are vaccinated or have tested negative? Has passport use contributed to our recent success in the fight against the disease — or made you want to leave the state for good?
