Community hero gets a trip to Big Game

- From staff reports

Who's going to the Super Bowl today in Inglewood?

The Rams. The Bengals. Thousands of NFL dignitaries, high-rollers and fans willing to pay thousands of dollars for a ticket.

Oh, and John Jones III. The difference is, Jones had no idea he was going to the game until late last week. He was too busy working to help his community to think about the game.

The founder of the East Side Riders Bike Club was honored with the “WallaceWins.com

Heart & Hustle Award,” which honors hardworking community heroes. This time, the award comprised of two of those prized tickets to the big showdown at SoFi Stadium, plus a custom Rams jersey and a $5,000 donation to the East Side Riders Bike Club.

Bradley Wallace, president and founder of the The Wallace Firm legal organization, presented Jones with its community hero award.

Jones, who grew up in Watts, is committed to youths in the area. His club is a volunteer organization in South Los Angeles whose mission is to provide meaningful recreational activities for local youth to keep them out of gang-related activity, including bike programs and community service in Watts and Compton. In addition to community bike rides and safety programs, the group delivers meals to those in need, provides a safe place for kids to hang out and stay out of trouble and offers afterschool tutoring.

“We are thrilled to be able to honor John with this award because he exemplifies the core values of what it means to be a community hero and his determination and strength is making a lasting impact in our Los Angeles community,” Wallace said.

“John and the East Side Riders Bike Club have become trusted community partners of the Los Angeles Rams because we have witnessed firsthand not only John's heart and hustle, but his tremendous impact in Watts,” said Molly Higgins, vice president of community affairs and engagement for the Rams.
