Thompson-Robinson quiets critics in upset of No. 15 Washington

As the song goes: It's like this and like that and like this and, uh, you might want to revise your opinion of Dorian Thompson-Robinson and this UCLA football team.

All week, ThompsonRo­binson absorbed all of the analysis and punditry ahead of the Bruins' Pac-12 matchup with No. 15 Washington on Friday night at the Rose Bowl.

“You hear all week that it's gonna be a shootout,” Thompson-Robinson said.

He was made well aware that the Huskies would arrive in Pasadena having never trailed this season, having won their first four games by an average of 25 points, led by a quarterbac­k that had thrown for more yards — 1,388 — through four weeks than anyone else in the nation.

Shohei Ohtani and the Angels wrapped up one large item of offseason business Saturday, when the team announced it agreed to terms with its two-way star on a $30 million contract for the 2023 season — Ohtani's final season before he is eligible for free agency.

Though the timing was unusual, the announceme­nt itself should come as little surprise. Ohtani, the 2021 American League Most Valuable Player, was already under team control for next year. His future with the team beyond 2023 doesn't change as a result of Saturday's announceme­nt.
