All-West Valley League baseball, softball awards
The West Valley League announced its allleague selections for baseball and softball for the 2023 season.
Birmingham Charter senior Gavin Taylor was named MVP after hitting .333 with three homers, 18 RBIs, seven stolen bases and 26 walks in league play. The BYU commit was also instrumental to the Patriots' defense at catcher.
Granada Hills senior Andrew Cuervo and Birmingham senior Daniel Flores were named coPitchers of the Year. Cuervo went 7-0 with a 1.30 ERA and Flores went 8-1 with a 1.60 ERA and 52 strikeouts.

Softball
Granada Hills sophomore Jocelyn Jimenez was named the MVP after batting .600, tallying 51 hits, 23 RBIs and three homers this spring.
Birmingham senior Ella Ludden and Granada Hills sophomore Addison Moorman were named co-Pitchers of the Year. Moorman went 15-5 this season with 165 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.46. Ludden went 9-2 with 157 strikeouts and an impressive ERA of 0.43. Ludden threw a no-hitter in the L.A. City Section Open Division quarterfinals over Eagle Rock.
