Sixers halt Cavaliers' 9-game win streak

Buddy Hield scored 24 points in his third game for visiting Philadelph­ia, Kelly Oubre Jr. also had 24 and the 76ers halted Cleveland's nine-game winning streak, hanging on for a 123-121 victory over the Cavaliers on Monday night.

The Cavs nearly rallied from a 10-point deficit in the final 1:25. They had a chance to win at the buzzer, but Darius Garland missed a 3-pointer from the right corner.

All-Star Tyrese Maxey added 22 points for the Sixers. Maxey split a pair of free throws with 6.9 seconds left, giving Cleveland a last possession to extend its longest winning streak since it had LeBron James in 2018. But Garland couldn't convert.

Donovan Mitchell led the Cavs with 36 points, They had won 17 of 18.

SPURS 122, RAPTORS 99 >>

Victor Wembanyama had 27 points, 14 rebounds and a career-high 10 blocks in his second triple-double and visiting San Antonio snapped a seven-game losing streak. Wembanyama also had five assists and a pair of steals. It was the first triple-double with blocks since Clint Capela had 13 points, 19 rebounds and 10 blocks for Atlanta against Minnesota on Jan. 22, 2021.

Gradey Dick scored 18 points for Toronto.

WARRIORS 129, JAZZ 107 >>

Klay Thompson scored 26 points, Stephen Curry made five 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and had 25 and visiting Golden State beat Utah night without coach Steve Kerr. Kerr was in Serbia for the funeral service of Golden State assistant coach Dejan Milojevic, who had a heart attack at a team dinner in Salt Lake City on Jan. 16 and died the next day.

The Warriors (26-25) have won five straight.

Jordan Clarkson had 22, but just two in the second half, for the Jazz. Collin Sexton also scored 22 for Utah.

PELICANS 96, GRIZZLIES 87 >>

Herbert Jones scored 17 points and Brandon Ingram finished with 16 points as visiting New Orleans held on to defeat Memphis, sending the Grizzlies to their ninth straight loss.

Jaren Jackson Jr. led Memphis with 22 points.

The Pelicans learned Monday reserve guard Dyson Daniels suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee that will keep him out of action an extended period of time.

Giannis Antetokoun­mpo had 36 points, 18 rebounds and five assists as host Milwaukee showcased its improved defense in beating Denver. After losing five of their first six games under new coach Doc Rivers, the Bucks have won two straight and allowed fewer than 100 points in back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Nikola Jokic had 29 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists for the Nuggets. Denver's Jamal Murray sat out the second half due to shin splints.

Aaron Holiday had 18 points, capped by two free throws with less than a second remaining after a disputed foul by Jalen Brunson behind the 3-point line, to lift host Houston over New York as the Rockets snapped a four-game skid.

Jalen Brunson had 27 points and Donte DiVincenzo scored 23 as the Knicks lost their third straight.

HORNETS' KUPCHAK STEPS DOWN AS GM >>

The Charlotte Hornets will begin a search for a new president of basketball operations after longtime NBA executive Mitch Kupchak stepped down on Monday.

The 69-year-old Kupchak, who has served as the team's president of basketball operations and general manager since 2018, will transition into an advisory role once the new hire joins the organizati­on. Kupchak's contact was set to expire after the season.
