▪ Here's what to know about street closures ahead of this year's Grand Prix of Long Beach.

The 49th annual Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach has nearly arrived.

That means a couple of things: On the one hand, downtown Long Beach will essentially be one giant party from Friday to Sunday.

But on the other, navigating the area in your car will be a challenge. And not just during the three-day event — but for a few days before and the day after.

Staggered street closures will begin on Wednesday, with some remaining closed until April 22.

Here are the streets to avoid this week.

Wednesday

All side streets leading into the Grand Prix’s circuit off Shoreline Drive and Seaside Way will close at 4 a.m.

A few hours later, at 7 a.m., the northbound Queensway Bridge off-ramp and southbound Queensway Bridge on-ramp for Shoreline Drive will also shut down, along with Aquarium Way south of Shoreline Drive and westbound Shoreline Drive generally.

At 3 p.m., Shoreline Drive eastbound from Broadway to Ocean Boulevard will also close.

Pine Avenue, according to a recent city news release, will stay open to traffic on Wednesday for folks visiting hotels, waterfront restaurants and Shoreline Village.

The Aquarium of the Pacific will be accessible by Chestnut Place and Golden Shore Avenue.

Friday to Sunday

During the Grand Prix of Long

Beach, the city will shut off access to the Hyatt Regency, Shoreline Village and the Shoreline Marina from Ocean Boulevard and Pine Avenue will close every morning at 6 a.m.

Southbound Pine Avenue and the interior streets of The Pike north of Shoreline Drive will also close each morning at 6 a.m., the city said.

During the day, access to the south side of the Grand Prix track will be provided to event ticket holders and boat owners with permits at the intersection of Alamitos Avenue and Ocean

Boulevard.

Pine Avenue will reopen to general traffic at 7 p.m. each day so the general public can get to the Hyatt Regency, Shoreline Village and other destinations in the area.

April 22

Long Beach expects all roads in the waterfront area, including east- and westbound Shoreline Drive, the Queensway Bridge off- and on-ramps, Pine Avenue, and Shoreline Village Drive to reopen to traffic by 5 p.m.
