Water­front home val­ues in re­gion fall

The Vir­ginian-Pi­lot — in a re­view of prop­erty-value data and other stud­ies — found ev­i­dence that real-es­tate val­ues in the Hampton Roads re­gion are be­ing driven down be­cause of re­cur­rent flood­ing and sea level rise. Ac­cord­ing to its re­port­ing, sev­eral re­cent stud­ies have shown ris­ing wa­ter has cost Hampton Roads home­own­ers hun­dreds of mil­lions of dol­lars in lost or un­re­al­ized val­ues.
