Hargraves’ fourth-down TD catch, Wallace’s PAT send Phoebus to semis

HAMPTON — Phoebus can spell redemption multiple ways following its 7-6 tripleovertime win over Norcom on Saturday at Darling Stadium in the Class 3 Region A championship game.

The Phantoms could go with Barry Har- graves, who caught the game-tying touchdown pass. Or they could pick Anthony Wallace, who sent them into the Class 3 state semifinals with the winning extra point after Hargraves’ catch.

Or they could think of it numerically. As the Phantoms hugged one another in the quagmire that was the Darling Stadium field after four quarters and three overtimes played in an often-heavy downpour, Wallace and Phoebus coach Jeremy Blunt recalled the 7-6 loss to eventual state champion Hopewell in the regional playoffs a year ago.
