Trees of Virginia.

2-3 p.m. Sunday at Paradise Creek Nature Park,1141Victor­y Blvd., Portsmouth. Learn how to identify some of the native trees with Byron Carmean of Virginia Big Trees. Workshop will begin indoors in the River Academy classroom and will end with a short walk around the park. Registrati­on required, contact Kat Fish at kfish@elizabethr­iver.org or 757-392-7132. Virginia Cooperativ­e Extension Master Gardeners are offering free pruning consultati­ons in the yards of James City County and City of Williamsbu­rg residents. During these sessions, teams of two to four VCE Master Gardeners will provide hands-on training to help homeowners maintain healthy ornamental shrubs and small trees. Two or three neighbors may request a session together at one of the homes in their area.
