Unifying force

Since my election in 2002, I have served with four mayors and am qualified to provide my unequivocal endorsement of Mayor Bobby Dyer. I have had the honor to serve with Dyer for his entire political career.

I had the unique opportunity to stand next to Dyer and work with him around the clock immediately after the May 31, 2019, mass shooting. Even though he lost a close personal friend on that horrible day, Dyer showed his true character as he led the city through this adversity with humility, grace, compassion and kindness. He has shown similarly strong leadership navigating our city through the pandemic, several electoral recounts, a council member’s resignation, the court’s removal of a sitting council member and the sudden resignation of the city manager. Through all of these challenges, Dyer has shown that he is not only a strong leader, he is a unifying force and an unabashed supporter of Virginia Beach.
