Vote for Donald Trump and Mike Pence: Trump secured the historic Abraham Accord among others

- By Rich Anderson Rich Anderson is chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia.

In just three days, Virginians will head to the polls to cast their ballot for president. Voters will choose between four more years of unprecedented economic growth, military strength, international peace, and safe streets or the same tired policies of a man who has been in office for the last 47 years.

Under President Donald Trump, the United States has achieved record economic success.

The Great American Comeback is under way and Trump is the man to lead it. Need proof? Over the past five months, 11.4 million jobs were added back to our economy and 52% of the jobs lost due to COVID-19 have been recovered.

The unemployment rate for women decreased to 7.7%, the Black unemployment rate decreased to 12.1%, the Hispanic American unemployment rate dropped to 10.3%, and the unemployment rate for Asian Americans fell to 8.9%. Some 1.4 million American children have been lifted out of poverty since President Trump took office, and nearly 9,000 Opportunity Zones have been created in all 50 states.

Trump is protecting America and our allies by rebuilding our military and ensuring our veterans receive the care they deserve.

Under Trump’s leadership, Congress has passed three historic National Defense Authorization Acts. The latest NDAA authorized a historic $738 billion in defense spending, included a 3.1% pay raise for our troops, and established the U.S. Space Force to ensure American dominance in space.

The president also signed the Veterans Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act to allow senior officials in the Department of Veterans Affairs to fire failing employees and establish safeguards to protect whistleblowers.

The Trump administration has secured a record $8.6 billion in funding for mental health services with the goal of ending the tragedy of veteran suicide. He has also created the PREVENTS initiative, a task force aimed at unifying the efforts of government, businesses, and nonprofit groups to help our veterans.

Trump secured the historic Abraham Accord, normalizing diplomatic relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. Both nations will exchange embassies and ambassadors. Again, the president secured another historic deal between Israel and Bahrain. The UAE and Bahrain are the first Arab nations to normalize relations with Israel in more than 25 years.

President Trump’ s policies are supporting our brave law enforcement officers and making our communities safer, while at the same time not hamstringing those on the front lines.

Just this year, Trump signed the Safe Policing for Safe Communities Executive Order to encourage and incentivize local police department reforms while maintaining his commitment to law and order. This historic executive order will help implement best practices on use of force, improve information sharing, and ban chokeholds.

On criminal justice reform, Trump signed the historic FIRST STEP Act into law, making our communities safer and reformed our criminal justice system to make it fairer and more equitable.

On the issue of school safety, the president signed the STOP School Violence Act and created a Commission on School Safety to examine ways to make our schools safer for our children.

Trump and his administration have taken critical steps to end human trafficking by signing the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act into law. The legislation tightens criteria for whether other countries are meeting standards for eliminating human trafficking.

The choice is clear. With President Trump, the United States will see four more years of record-breaking economic prosperity, a strong military and safe streets and neighborhoods. With Joe Biden, the U.S. will see higher taxes, higher unemployment and an incredibly weak military.

This election is about more than Republican vs. Democrat, red vs. blue, right vs. left. It’s about your future and your family’s future. The American people are at a crossroads. We’ve finally battled back from the Great Recession and we’re on the march to beat COVID-19. Our comeback is not over, but it’s in danger of ending in just three short days.

The choice is yours. It’s not one to take lightly.
