UTSA edges ODU in high-scoring affair
Griffin Paxton and Dylan Rock each hit a homer to spark Texas at San Antonio to a 12-10 comeback victory over No. 19 Old Dominion in the first game of a Conference USA baseball doubleheader on Saturday at Roadrunner Field.
The second game was in progress at press time.
Paxton and Rock both hit their homers in a nine-run bottom of the first inning after the Monarchs (32-12, 8-8) had scored three runs in the top of the inning.
ODU, though, chipped away at the deficit and then took the lead in the sixth on a two-run homer by Kyle Battle.
The Roadrunners bounced back with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to go ahead 12-10.
Andy Garriola had a huge game for ODU, going 2 for 4 with two homers and five RBIs. Kenny Levar went 3 for 3 with an RBI and Battle finished 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
