NSU men, women place 2nd at MEAC

North Carolina A&T dominated the final day to easily win the men’s and women’s team titles at the MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championsh­ips on Saturday at Irwin Belk Track in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Norfolk State settled for second place in both the men’s and women’s meets.

The Aggies men set a meet record with 288 points. NSU followed with 174 points. North Carolina A&T’s women also set a record with 290 points, while the Spartans had 144.

NSU won the men’s decathlon, sweeping the top four spots as Camren Wynder-Hill took gold with 4,579 points. Kai Cole, Anthony Franklin, Savien Hayes and Keith Brown finished second in the 4x100 relay, running a seasonbest 40.14 seconds.

The Spartans’ Dajah Price won the women’s heptathlon with 3,974 points. Martha Bissah settled for second in the 1,500 meters.

NSU’s Wynder-Hill, Price and Fridah Koech (10,000 meters) each made the All-MEAC first team.
