Indian River rebounds in a big way
After shutout loss in opener, Braves roll past Lakeland
Indian River got just what it needed this week after a difficult opener.
The Braves, who were shut out in a 13-point loss to Varina last week, broke from the gate quickly and never turned back in a 53-0 victory over Lakeland on Friday night in Chesapeake.
Tyler Allison threw two firsthalf touchdown passes, the first a 70-yard strike to Jason Preston and the second a 29-yard pass to Davion Turns, to help propel the Braves. Ravon Moore added two first-half touchdown runs as Indian River led 26-0 at the intermission.
After a 19-yard run by Malachi Hilton gave Indian River a 33-0 lead in the third quarter, Johnathan Shaw recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a 39-0 lead.
Indian River added two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to cap the rout.

Sometimes a group effort is just so strong, you have to acknowledge everyone. After Phoebus’ defensive performance against Oscar Smith, this is one of those times. The Phantoms rose to the occasion while traveling to Chesapeake. Their defense forced three turnovers and limited the Tigers to 89 yards of offense.
