Janice Virginia vanNoppen, 90, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Born to parents George and Ruth Naylor in Emmittsbur­g, Maryland, she graduated from Taneytown High School and went on to graduate from Maryland Medical Secretaria­l College. Janice worked as a secretary in Civil Service at Headquarte­rs TRADOC, Ft. Monroe for 40 years and in later years worked for Jeff's Flowers Of Course. She was former President of the Women of the Elks Club, a member of First United Methodist Church Fox Hill, and had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Shreveport when she resided in Louisiana.

Preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Msgt. Arthur Tracey, Sr. and Col. Vern vanNoppen; her son, Arthur Tracey, Jr. and brother, George Naylor, Jr; she leaves to cherish her memory, daughters Carolyn T. Eller and Pamela A. Tracey; stepsons, Steven vanNoppen, Lawrence vanNoppen and Kevin vanNoppen; sister, Dr. Arlene Okerlund; grandchild­ren, Kyle H. Rivenbark (Christy), Caitlin T. Eller, Garrett R. Eller, Max vanNoppen, Lily Jayne Martin, and Cody vanNoppen; and one great-granddaugh­ter, Kayleigh Scurlock. The family wishes to express their appreciati­on to the care team at Heartland Hospice for the excellent care they gave to our mother and family. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 9:30 AM on Friday, October 27, 2023 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton with interment following at Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 9 – 9:30 AM.
