Everette W. White, “Whitey” 89 years old of Hampton, passed away on November 16, 2023 with family by his side. Whitey was born on November 3, 1934 in Gary, Indiana to Mamie & Charles. He joined the Air Force in 1951, at only 17. He spent 20 years serving his country, doing tours in Korea and Vietnam & had eight address changes on three different continents during his career before, settling in Hampton. He married the love of his life, Mary Elliott in 1956, and had three wonderful children. Whitey and Mary were married for almost 62 years when he lost her almost this same time six years ago. Everette was also preceded in death by his son, Wayne, his parents and his sisters and brother. He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (Don) & Patty (Eric) 9 grandchild­ren, James (Sarah), Jessica, Patrick, Danielle (Chris), Kelsie (Robert), Braden, PJ, Donnie & Michelle. 11 great grandchild­ren, Jonathan, Sophia, Archer, Brodie, Oaklie & 2 great grandchild­ren. Whitey was an avid bass fisherman in his younger days. Whether on his boat, or on a pier he loved to cast a line. He also loved to play pinochle & did so weekly with a group of friends at the community center, until Covid hit. Whitey lived at The Huntington where he was loved by many. He never missed anyones birthday, always handing out cards for any special occasion. He also loved crafting and made Christmas ornaments for everyone during the holidays. Whitey was known for his ability to make people laugh & smile. He always had a great attitude, no matter how he was feeling. He will be missed by so many. A special, thank you to all of the nurses, and and staff that took such great care of him at his home at the Huntington. In addition, a very special thank you to the wonderful doctors and nurses at Riverside Hospital that took such great care of him in his last couple of weeks. We are forever grateful that you treated him as if he was your Daddy. Family will receive friends Monday night November 20th from 5 to 8 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton. Services will be on Tuesday, November 21st at noon, also at Parklawn-Wood with entombment at Hampton Memorial Gardens following the service.The family will be having a reception, immediatel­y following the service at Bethany, United Methodist Church, in Hampton, for all who are able to join. In lieu of flowers, the family would love for you to make a donation in honor of Whitey to the MDS Foundation or the COPD Foundation.
