Joshua (Josh) Thomas Wilson, 40, of Richmond, Virginia died tragically on December 1, 2023. His loss was completely unexpected, and his family and friends are shocked and deeply saddened. He was born on June 23, 1983, to Kathryn Jacobs, formerly known as Kathryn Wilson Workman, and Joey Workman. Josh attended Walsingham Academy and graduated from Hargrave Military Academy.

Josh grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia and was a long-time resident of Richmond, Virginia. If you knew Josh, you would know how incredibly kindhearted he was. Not only was he intelligent and funny, but Josh also exuded warmth and embraced many with mirth and humor, leaving an indelible mark through his engaging nature and genuine care for others. He was such a great source of positivity and always looked out for the underdog.

In life, Josh could have been or done anything, but he deliberately chose a simpler, less-complicated path full of the things and friends who he loved. He had a passion for food and worked in many kitchens in Richmond throughout his career. Josh had a particular love for Fuzzy Cactus, where he worked as a Chef most recently and was universally loved by those he worked with. Josh loved to cook and had true passion and dedication for his career. He enjoyed camping and hiking in the mountains and enjoyed spending days at the river. Josh did all that he could to help animals in need, as he was an animal lover. He especially adored his beagle, Max, and his cats, Smokey and BeeBee.

Josh is survived by parents, Kathryn Jacobs and Joey Workman; his stepfather, Kevin Jacobs; his grandparents, Buz and Bonnie Wilson; his sisters, Shelby and Samantha Jacobs; his aunt, Donna Wilson; his uncles, Jeffrey and Randy Wilson; his cousin, Shayne Smith; his girlfriend, Brandy Davenport; and many other loving friends and relatives. A private ceremony will be held at Williamsburg Memorial Park on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. and a Celebration of Life to be held at the Fuzzy Cactus on Saturday, December 16th time TBD.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Richmond Animal League, located at 11401 International Drive, Richmond, VA 23236, (804379-0046) or any NO KILL shelter of your choosing as these organizations have the same goals as Josh, which is to provide compassionate help to animals in need.
