Al-Amir Dawes had 23 points and Kadary Richmond scored 21 in Newark, New Jersey, in the Pirates’ third win this season over ranked teams. Seton Hall (10-5, 3-1 Big East) held off a late scare from Marquette (11-4, 2-2), which hadn’t played since defeating Creighton 72-67 on Dec. 30.

Dre Davis had 11 points and seven rebounds for the Pirates, who never trailed in the second half. Oso Ighodaro led Marquette with 22 points.

Charlotte 70, No. 17 Florida Atlantic 68:

Lu’Cye Patterson broke a tie by canning two free throws with two seconds remaining, sending the host 49ers (7-7, 1-1 American Athletic Conference) to an upset of the Owls (11-4, 1-1).

FAU trailed by 17 early in the second half but rallied to go ahead 59-57, only to see Charlotte answer. The Owls’ Johnel Davis hit a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left to square the game at 68, only to commit a foul that sent Patterson to the line.

No. 18 Baylor 75, Oklahoma State 70 (OT):

RayJ Dennis scored 18 points and Langston Love added 17 as the Bears (12-2) ended a five-game winning streak by the host Cowboys (8-6) in the Big 12 opener for both teams.

Yves Missi had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Bears, who shot 42.5 % for the game and outscored the Cowboys 15-10 in the extra period. Brandon Garrison scored 20 for Oklahoma State.

No. 21 Wisconsin 88, Nebraska 72:

Tyler Wahl scored 17 points to lead five Wisconsin players in double figures as the host Badgers (11-3, 3-0 Big Ten) ended a fivegame winning streak by the Cornhusker­s (12-3, 2-2).

Creighton 69, No. 23 Providence 60:

Ryan Kalkbrenne­r had 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Bluejays (11-4, 2-2 Big East), who nearly blew an 18-point lead in the second half against the Friars (11-4, 2-2) in Omaha, Nebraska.

No. 25 Auburn 83, Arkansas 51:

Chad Baker-Mazara scored 16 points to lead four Auburn players in double figures as the visiting Tigers (12-2) rolled past the host Razorbacks (9-5) in the SEC opener for both teams.

Georgetown 68, DePaul 65:

Supreme Cook scored 14 points and former King’s Fork star Jayden Epps added 10 as the Hoyas (8-7, 1-3 Big East) beat the Blue Demons (3-11, 0-3) in Washington.

TJ Small had 15 points and six rebounds for the Black Knights (5-10, 1-1 Patriot League) as they beat the Crusaders (3-12, 0-2).

Braeden Smith had 25 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the visiting Raiders (8-7, 2-0 Patriot League). Austin Benigni had 14 points and eight assists for the Midshipmen (5-8, 1-1).

Trey Kaufman-Renn scored a season-high 23 points as Purdue (14-1, 3-1 Big Ten) held off the visiting Illini (11-3, 2-1).

No. 4 Connecticu­t 88, Butler 81:

Alex Karaban scored 20 points, Tristen Newton added 17 and the Huskies (13-2, 3-1 Big East) posted their third straight victory without injured center Donovan Clingan, defeating the Bulldogs (10-5, 1-3) in Indianapol­is.
